Tourists and New Yorkers alike often enjoy spending time on the Hudson River. It is one of the largest flowing bodies of water on the East coast, so it so it should be no surprise that it draws a crowd. A lot of people simply enjoy being near the water. If you are planning on taking a trip to the Hudson then here are a few things that you should do during your time there.

Bike Tours

You can rent bikes in the Hudson River Valley and take them either on a guided tour or simply ride alongside the river. Taking a guided bike tour around the Hudson River Valley is a great way to make sure that you and your family see as much as possible during your time there. If guided tours are not your thing, then you should at least ask for a few tips on where to visit.

Olana State Historic Site

This is a must do for anyone visiting the Hudson River Valley area. It is located in the mountainside near the Rip Van Winkle Bridge and has one of the best views in the area. The building itself is Moroccan design and is a beautiful historic site. Once inside you will find various works of art as well as the elegant décor.

Boating

This option may not be for everyone, but boating down the Hudson is an experience like no other. You can rent a boat at the marina and take it out on the river, just be sure that you familiarize yourself with the local boating laws. Boating laws vary by state, but if you are licensed in your state, then you are able to drive a boat in New York. Just like a driver’s license, a boating license is good anywhere in the country, provided it is valid.

There is no shortage of activities for a day on the Hudson. Do what you enjoy, and you are sure to have an unforgettable time.
